Greetings to all Lambda Theta Chapter members, with a special welcome to our newly inducted 2017 members. This past year has been a busy one. In the fall, Dr. Kim Keser and I attended the SIGMA conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. What a wonderful experience it was. The 2017 convention theme was: Influence Through Action: Advancing Global Health, Nursing and Midwifery. The conference was attended by over 3000 SIGMA members in which there were over 1000 oral, symposia, and poster presentations detailing the latest clinical innovations, critical research projects and important leadership initiatives. An exciting event was the Society awarding our chapter a Showcase of Regional Excellence award for our project “Backpacks for Haiti Nursing Students” community service initiative. The two awards will recognize Lambda Theta in the themes of advocacy and philanthropy.
There have been various chapter events and celebrations over the years with many chapter members participating in research and other scholarly events. Lambda Theta Chapter wants to hear from the members. Let us know what scholarly and leadership endeavors you have participated in over the years.
As spring brings renewed beginnings, the chapter leaders are working to enhance chapter activities. We need members to engage with us to continue our heritage of Chapter activities. We need your ideas and creativity to help this chapter thrive. There is a lot to do and accomplish. Please let me know if you are interested in serving as an officer or on another planning group. Stay tuned for more opportunities to become involved.
Today, Lambda Theta Chapter continues to support Sigma Theta Tau’s vision to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people.
